Juventus view Villar

Monday 8th November

Gonzalo Villar has fallen to the fringes of the Roma project under Mourinho, but remains an attractive proposition for many other clubs.

One of his suitors, according to Calciomercato.it, is Juventus. The Old Lady are weighing him up as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey, whom they are aiming to offload.

Right-back talks

Monday 8th November

A new right-back is a priority issue, as reminded when Rick Karsdorp went down injured in the loss to Venezia on Sunday.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Roma have made initial contact over a transfer for Standard Liege’s Hugo Siquet as an alternative to bring in.

Aged 19, he could be available for €7m.

Roma eye Bodo/Glimt tormentor

Monday 8th November

The recent double header with Bodo/Glimt was a disappointment for Roma on the pitch, but it may have opened an opportunity in the transfer market for them.

According to TV2 in Norway, Erik Botheim has caught Roma’s eye after scoring in both legs of the Europa Conference League match.

The forward turns 22 in January but will be out of contract in just over a year’s time.

New right-back ballot

Friday 5th November

Roma transfer news continues to focus on two main areas – defensive midfield and right-back.

For the latter position, Corriere Dello Sport claim there are now two names under consideration. The first, which has been known for a while, is Marcus Pedersen of Feyenoord.

The alternative, who is a new link, is Benjamin Henrichs. He wants to find more gametime than he is getting at RB Leipzig. They may make him available for less than €10m, but Roma would favour an initial loan.

Kumbulla could join Udinese

Wednesday 3rd November

Marash Kumbulla is one of the players to have found little space under Jose Mourinho so far.

It followed a mediocre debut season in Rome for the Albania international, whose future is now in doubt.

TuttoUdinese report that Udinese are interested in him and would be willing to take him on loan.

Roma ready Zakaria offer

Wednesday 3rd November

Roma’s top target in midfield still seems to be Denis Zakaria, who is in the final year of his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to Nicolo Schira, progress over the potential signing is being made. The reporter claims Roma are offering him a contract worth €3.5m plus add-ons until 2026.

What’s more, they could offer Gladbach €5m to take him in January.

Pinto eyes three left-footed defenders

Monday 1st November

Defence has become a concern for Roma due to Chris Smalling’s injury issues and a lack of trust in Marash Kumbulla.

To rectify it, the club could make a signing in January. According to Il Romanista, a left-footed centre-back will be targeted – and Tiago Pinto has three options.

On his radar are Marcao of Galatasaray, Lisandro Martinez of Ajax and Marcos Senesi of Feyenoord.

Marcao, 25, seems the easiest to sign due to his price of €10m in comparison to Martinez’s €25m and Senesi’s €12m. Furthermore, he has already given his approval to a move to Rome.

Economically, Roma could tie him down to a contract worth less than €2m per season.
