Allan an idea for the midfield
Wednesday 15th December
Yet another option has emerged for Roma in their hunt for a new midfielder. According to Teleradiostereo, they could bring Allan back to Serie A.
The former Napoli midfielder is currently in the Premier League with Everton. At the age of 30 – he turns 31 in January – he could have the experience Roma need in central territory.
Marseille to make another Roma move?
Wednesday 15th December
In the summer, two unwanted Roma players went in the same direction, with both Pau Lopez and Cengiz Under joining Marseille.
Now, the Ligue 1 outfit could provide an escape route to another Giallorossi misfit in the shape of Amadou Diawara.
According to Il Tempo, they have carried out a survey with Diawara’s entourage about the idea of him moving to the French club. There has been no direct contact between the two clubs yet, though.
Arthur a new idea in midfield
Tuesday 14th December
The latest midfielder to be linked with Roma is Juventus’ Arthur Melo. Subject of a controversial swap deal with Barcelona involving ex-Roma man Miralem Pjanic in 2020, the Brazilian has not reflected his inflated market value.
He could be on the move in the winter window, with both Juve and Roma looking to revamp their midfields.
According to Calciomercato, Roma would be interested in taking Arthur on loan. In return, they could offer the services of Gonzalo Villar, who does not fit in under Jose Mourinho.
There could be a derby in the market, though, as Lazio also are looking at Arthur – even if he is not a priority for them.
Dest identified for right-back role
Tuesday 14th December
A new option has surfaced for Roma to reinforce at right-back. According to El Catalan, they are interested in taking Sergino Dest on loan from Barcelona.
Barca, on the other hand, would prefer to sell the USA international.
Juventus consider Calafiori
Tuesday 14th December
Riccardo Calafiori has not had many chances at left-back for Roma this season and may not get many more.
According to Sport Mediaset, the academy graduate is of interest to Juventus. In fact, their vice-president Pavel Nedved – head still spinning from Cafu’s trickery against him in a Rome derby back in the day – has met with his agent Mino Raiola.
The pair are friends and had other areas to discuss, but Calafiori is under consideration by Juve for the left-back role in a transfer that would be reminiscent of Luca Pellegrini’s a couple of years ago.
Saul on midfield shortlist
Thursday 9th December
Roma still need a new midfielder but are no closer to identifying who that will be specifically. Il Romanista, though, have a few updates.
They verify that Corentin Tolisso of Bayern Munich is an option as his contract winds down. But another idea is that of Saul Niguez.
The Spaniard joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer but has found little space. There are already suggestions his spell at Stamford Bridge could be cut short.
Il Romanista believe Roma could present him with another avenue away from Atletico. It would be difficult due to his €40m price tag, but a loan could help pave the way for a deal – as could the inclusion of Atleti target Gonzalo Villar the other way.
Marc Roca is also reiterated as an alternative target for Roma.
Stryger Larsen suggested
Monday 6th December
As the hunt for a new right-back goes on, Roma have reportedly been offered another solution.
With the pursuit of Bartosz Bereszynski on hold and that of Diogo Dalot encountering obstacles, Il Messaggero claim intermediaries have offered Jens Stryger Larsen to Roma.
The Denmark international is in the final few months of his contract with Udinese and has plenty of Serie A experience.
