Mourinho in Memphis reunion?
Monday 29th November
A slightly surprising slice of Roma transfer news has emerged from Catalonia, where El Nacional claim Jose Mourinho is ready to ask about taking Memphis Depay from Barcelona.
After working together at Manchester United, Mourinho already knows all about the Dutch forward, who only joined Barca in the summer as a free agent.
Roma were linked briefly before then, but he chose Barca in the end. But after Xavi’s appointment as the head coach of the Camp Nou club, Depay is already facing an uncertain future.
It would take €40m to sign him though, which seems beyond Roma’s reach given their other priorities.
Roma considering Frattesi return?
Friday 26th November
Back in 2017, Roma let Sassuolo take young academy midfielder Davide Frattesi as part of the operation to hire Eusebio Di Francesco as head coach. Much has changed since then, with things going better for Frattesi than Di Francesco.
After showing some patience, Frattesi is becoming a key player for Sassuolo in what is effectively his first full season in their first team. Having developed through a series of loan spells, he is now a Serie A player.
According to Nicolo Schira, Roma are even keeping an eye on the 22-year-old, as are Inter. Frattesi’s hometown club have the advantage though due to their sell-on clause, even if their buyback option has expired.
Herrera back on Roma radar
Thursday 18th November
The hierarchy of Roma’s midfield targets is becoming clear. Denis Zakaria is the first option, despite plenty of competition, and Florian Grillitsch seems to be the plan B.
That’s according to Leggo, who add Hector Herrera of Atletico Madrid as a third option.
He is out of favour in the Spanish capital and out of contract at the end of the season. Therefore, a deal could be possible for someone who has been a long-term target.
Loans to unlock Bereszynski deal
Wednesday 17th November
Roma remain focused on finding a new right-back to compete with Rick Karsdorp. The top target is Diogo Dalot, but there have been some contrasting claims about the chances of signing him.
Calciomercato believe he has given his approval to the transfer. However, it remains a difficult deal with Manchester United. With that in mind, Corriere Dello Sport have provided an update about a prime alternative.
Bartosz Bereszynski of Sampdoria is next in the queue for Roma. According to the report, Samp want either Riccardo Calafiori or Gonzalo Villar in return. Roma could loan either of them out to sweeten the deal.
Vecino a midfield option
Monday 15th November
Roma are still searching for a new central midfielder and another option has appeared. According to Il Tempo, they are considering Matias Vecino of Inter.
Vecino’s contract expires at the end of the season and he has confessed to wanting a solution. However, Juventus may have the edge over Roma at this moment in time.
