Wijnaldum injury prompts plethora of midfield links
Wednesday 24th August
Recently, it was confirmed that Georginio Wijnaldum has suffered a broken leg and could miss the rest of 2022 for Roma.
Naturally, the team will need a reinforcement to replace him in midfield, where they would otherwise only have three players competing for two roles.
Various names have been linked – or regurgitated – such as Florian Grillitsch, Allan and Harry Winks. But one of the most concrete candidates is Denis Zakaria.
He was a target for Roma throughout last season before joining Juventus in January. Now, though, ReteSport have reported that La Magica have asked for him on loan – and it could be accepted so Juve can make room for Leandro Paredes, who coincidentally has also been linked with a return to Rome.
Calciomercato are also predicting that Roma will go all in on their pursuit of Zakaria.
Another interesting suggestion to have emerged via a few sources is Radja Nainggolan. Currently back in Belgium with Royal Antwerp, could he return for a second spell with the club?
