AS Roma transfer news blog: All the latest rumours throughout August 2022

AS Roma have concluded a busy summer transfer window, in which there was plenty of news to keep track of until it shut on September 1st.

During June and July, Roma made some impressive signings. The marquee arrival has been former Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, who followed Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar and Zeki Celik in signing up.

In August, there were also the additions of Gini Wijnaldum, Andrea Belotti and Mady Camara, while Jordan Veretout, Gonzalo Villar, Carles Perez, Amadou Diawara and Justin Kluivert are among the most significant to have departed.

Below were updates as they unfolded as to how Roma modified their squad in the transfer market.

Deadline day deals

Thursday 1st September

The transfer window in Italy closed today. Roma managed to complete some player exits; Devid Bouah joined Reggina, while Justin Kluivert signed on loan for Valencia, who have an option to buy him.

Roma were unable to find takers for the likes of Ante Coric and William Bianda, but have offloaded several of their unwanted players. Crucially, the transfer window remains open in some other regions – such as Belgium, Turkey and Greece.

What’s more, Roma might yet be able to bring in a defender they missed out on. One target, Dan-Axel Zagadou, is still a free agent and can sign for the club after the deadline.

He has reportedly – per Foot Mercato – been in talks with Roma (and Inter) via his agent, so there could yet be one more addition.
