Justin Kluivert has joined Valencia from Roma on an initial loan deal that contains an option to buy.
It is Kluivert’s third loan spell away from Roma, who will be hoping it becomes permanent in the end. The option to buy is reportedly worth €15m.
Having missed out on his Premier League chance with Fulham due to a lack of success getting a work permit, the winger will be playing in the La Liga for the first time as a result of his move. After spells with RB Leipzig and Nice, he will soon have played in all of Europe’s top five leagues apart from the Premier League.
His contract with Roma was due to expire in 2023, but automatically extended after Nice declined their purchase option earlier this summer.
Still, Roma will hope to have seen the back of the 23-year-old, who although far from being Monchi’s worst signing, did not quite live up to expectations in Serie A.
