The summer of 2021 marks the beginning of a new era for Roma Women, who will once again be busy on the transfer front.
Alessandro Spugna has arrived as head coach and Betty Bavagnoli will be overseeing superior club duties, looking to strengthen the squad that she led to Coppa Italia glory in May.
There have not been as many rumours for the women’s side as for their male counterparts, but some hints are still arising as to the business Roma might do.

Alessandra Massa is one of those who has already featured – and even scored – for the senior team. However, she has now confirmed she will not be spending the upcoming season at Roma.
“However it goes, it will not be a goodbye,” she wrote on Instagram. “A part of me is Giallorossa now.”

Pirone to strengthen strike force
Friday 2nd July
Embed from Getty ImagesRoma are close to wrapping up the signing of Sassuolo striker Valeria Pirone, according to Il Calcio Femminile.
Pirone was also attracting interest from Inter and Napoli, but Roma have instead got the details seemingly sorted.
Aged 32, the attacker will bring her experience to the frontline. She scored 10 goals in 25 games for Sassuolo last season and has earned six caps for Italy, without scoring, since 2011.
She played for Res Roma, the team whose licence Roma took a few years later, in 2014-15 and should now return to the capital.
A number nine, she will help replenish a frontline that is probably about to lose backup option Marija Banusic, while there are doubts over the future of main striker Paloma Lazaro.
Transfer window preview
Thursday 1st July

Roma are working to turn a cup-winning squad into a title-contending one. Some adjustments to the roster will be required as they look to make the marginal gains to facilitate that process.
It already seems they are close to making the first summer signing – and it will be a big one. Brazil midfielder Thaisa has undergone a medical at Villa Stuart and is ready to join the club.
Embed from Getty ImagesArriving from Real Madrid and with previous Serie A experience with AC Milan to her name, the 32-year-old will be a major coup for Spugna’s squad.
Thaisa will not be the only player to arrive at Stadio Tre Fontane this summer. Roma are also considering a swap deal with Juventus to reunite Spugna with former Empoli loanee Benedetta Glionna, via which Agnese Bonfantini would head the other way.
Roma will also be looking to bolster the defensive ranks following the departure of right-back Kaja Erzen. Centre-forward may be another area in need of more depth.
As things stand, no announcements have been made. Hopefully, the Thaisa news should become official soon to kick off an exciting summer for Roma Women, which you can follow here.
