Roma have had a women’s team for just over six years, but 12 players have managed to reach triple figures of appearances for the club in that time.
With Serie A Femminile seasons consisting of either 22 or 26 games (not to forget the curtailed 2019-20 season, which only reached 16), and Champions League involvement only being earned over the past three years, it can be a bit more challenging to reach significant landmarks like 100 appearances for a Roma Women player. And yet, various memorable players from the team’s journey so far have made it.
In chronological order, here they are.
Annamaria Serturini
7th May 2022
Until recently, Annamaria Serturini held the records for having the most appearances and goals for Roma Women. In both departments, she had led the way for a while, having become the first Giallorosse player to reach a century of appearances – on a significant day in the club’s history, too.
Eight minutes into her 100th game, Serturini opened the scoring – well, floodgates – against Sampdoria in what turned out to be an 8-0 win. Not only was the magnitude of the scoreline significant, but it was also the result that confirmed Champions League qualification for the first time ever for the Giallorosse.
Serturini left Roma for Inter in January 2024 with 156 appearances behind her, a tally which was only broken with a new record in October.
Elisa Bartoli
29th October 2022
The first captain of Roma Women, Elisa Bartoli reached her 100th appearance in a 2-1 win over her future club Inter in October 2022, on the eighth matchday of the season in which her hometown team would win the Scudetto for the first time.
Bartoli ended up on 149 appearances before she left on the back of lifting the Scudetto for a second successive season in 2024 and at the time of her departure was the player with the most starts in Roma Women history, although she has since been overtaken in that department.
Giada Greggi
5th March 2023
The player who became Roma’s new record appearance maker, above Serturini, in October 2024 was Giada Greggi, who was the last one standing from the original Giallorosse squad.
The dynamic midfielder was threatened by a serious injury earlier in her Roma spell, but bounced back strongly and made her 100th appearance in a Coppa Italia semi-final clash with AC Milan in March 2023. Roma lost on the day but would win the second leg to progress to the final.
Manuela Giugliano
21st March 2023
Handed the number 10 shirt upon her arrival ahead of Roma’s second season in Serie A Femminile, Manuela Giugliano has always been one of the team’s more highly-rated assets.
Chosen as the successor to Bartoli as captain in 2024, she also recently overtook Serturini as Roma’s record scorer in women’s football.
In terms of her 100th appearance, that was a couple of weeks after fellow midfielder Greggi’s – and it was on the big stage. Indeed, she played out her century appearance on the Stadio Olimpico turf in the first leg of Roma’s Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona, which was a 1-0 loss.
It made her the first non-founding Roma Women player to reach 100 appearances – and while building up her tally, Giugliano later became the first Roma player to feature 100 times under a single coach (Alessandro Spugna).
Andressa Alves
29th April 2023
Another player who reached the landmark of 100 appearances on a special day was attacking midfielder Andressa Alves. Like Giugliano, she arrived in the summer of 2019 and instantly increased the team’s technical level.
Andressa had multiple reasons to celebrate on the day of her 100th appearance, since it was also the day on which Roma won the Scudetto for the first time by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in April 2023.
Sadly, she only made three more appearances for the club after before embarking on a new challenge in the USA. At the time of her departure, she was one goal away from matching the team’s all-time scoring record.
The Brazilian has gone down in history as the first foreign player to become a Giallorosse centurion.
Camelia Ceasar
13th January 2024
The first goalkeeper to reach 100 appearances for Roma Women was Camelia Ceasar, another 2019 addition to the squad and a player who quickly became the first choice in goal and has provided some memorable moments, particularly in penalty shootouts such as the one by which Roma won their first trophy, the Coppa Italia, in 2021.
She kept a clean sheet on her 100th appearance, as Roma recorded a 3-0 shutout win over Pomigliano in January 2024.
Elena Linari
24th January 2024
Less than two weeks after Ceasar, one of the key components of the defensive line in front of the keeper also reached a century of Giallorosse appearances.
Elena Linari had joined in January 2021 and proved to be the missing piece in Roma’s defence, instantly showing her solidity and reliability.
Three years and 10 days after her arrival at the club was confirmed, Linari represented Roma for the 100th time in a dramatic draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage.
Benedetta Glionna
14th September 2024
Brought to Roma in the summer of 2021 to coincide with the arrival of Spugna – who had just had her on loan at Empoli – as head coach, Benedetta Glionna continued to be regularly selected by the boss, although there are players with fewer than 100 appearances for the club who have started more games than her.
Nevertheless, Glionna’s 100th appearance was in a 1-1 draw with Sassuolo in September 2024, during Roma’s first home game of their second title defence.
Emilie Haavi
13th October 2024
Fellow winger Emilie Haavi made a big impression when joining Roma in December 2021. It didn’t take long for the Norwegian to start contributing goals and assists in plentiful supply.
Roma were the first club to bring her to Italian football and she settled in almost instantly. She reached 100 appearances for them on the day of a 2-1 loss to Juventus in October 2024.
Valentina Giacinti
24th November 2024
The highest-pedigree striker Roma have ever had for their women’s team – of the difference-making calibre they were crying out for by the time she arrived in 2022 – Valentina Giacinti instantly justified her reputation and became an indispensable starter.
By the end of 2022, she had scored more goals in a calendar year than any other Roma player before, despite having just half of the year to do so. She broke the record again in 2023. And 2024.
After winning back-to-back Serie A titles and being so pivotal to that process, her 100th appearance for Roma came early in her third season, during a November 2024 draw with Sassuolo.
By the time of her 100th appearance, she had 43 goals and 15 assists to her name.
Moeka Minami
14th December 2024
The first Asian player to reach 100 appearances for Roma – female or male – was Japanese defender Moeka Minami, who was involved dramatically on the day of her reaching the landmark.
Roma had been losing to Napoli before a late equaliser by Giugliano, and then it was Minami who scored the winning goal in stoppage time.
It was an eighth goal in Roma colours for a popular player who the club brought to Europe in 2022 and became a back-to-back Scudetto winner, playing an important role along the way.
Lucia Di Guglielmo
9th March 2025
Few players have celebrated their century with quite as dramatic an impact as Lucia Di Guglielmo did.
The first signing for Spugna, having captained his Empoli side, Di Guglielmo became one of Roma’s more reliable full-backs, unfortunately missing part of the first Scudetto season due to injury but bouncing back after and adding a threat going forwards too.
Her 100th appearance was a showdown with Inter, Roma’s main rivals for second place in the 2024-25 season. It was Di Guglielmo herself who headed in the winner for Roma in the 95th minute – one of the top five latest goals in the club’s history to that date – to put them back level with the Nerazzurre.
