Roma are getting ready for their Europa League reunion with Ajax on Thursday and there may be one opponent to keep an eye on.
Holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg with two away goals, Roma have the advantage ahead of the second leg. However, Ajax remain a tricky opponent with dangerous players.
One of those could in fact become a transfer target for Roma. According to Calciomercato, La Magica are interested in Ryan Gravenberch.
The midfielder has graduated Ajax’s academy to become a first-team regular and started last week’s first leg. Now, he appears to be a player who can step up to a bigger league.
Roma may be a suitor for the attacking midfielder, so will be keeping a close eye on him on Thursday. However, there are three reasons a deal may not be easy.
First, Ajax want at least €25m for the 18-year-old. Second, his agent Mino Raiola is tough to deal with (although he did help Roma sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan). And finally, Chelsea are also interested in the Dutchman.
But Roma could be in the market for another midfielder, so it will be interesting to see how Gravenberch does when he visits Stadio Olimpico on Thursday.
