Roma Women drew for the first time under Alessandro Spugna this season after being pegged back by AC Milan in a game that finished 1-1.
Annamaria Serturini gave Roma the lead, but one of the league’s strongest sides eventually fought back to earn a point.
Away from home, it is a good result for Roma, but they will be hoping to convert some of this type of result into wins.
Here’s how Spugna assessed things afterwards.
On fighting for the result
“In the first half there was the performance. You are playing against Milan, in Milan, it may be that the game has to be fought. There were their actions, but also ours.”
On not winning
“Perhaps we would have deserved more points. Let’s take this draw, it remains a high-level performance and in this moment it must represent a motivation to give something more in the next matches.”
On struggling to see out a lead
“It was also lacking in the first half, as happened last Saturday against Juventus. We had to score the second goal, we had opportunities. The chance for [Giada] Greggi, another two or three balls into the area that could have had a different outcome. I feel like saying this. For the rest, nothing is missing.”
On lacking cynicism
“Yes, a bit of cynicism for sure, but when you play against these teams here it is not easy. It can’t always finish four or five to nil. It can also finish 1-0, perhaps trying to manage it.”
“Patience. We take this point home with us. At Milan, it had never happened against Milan. It’s fine.”
