Roma Women have completed the signing of Oihane Valdezate from Athletic Club on a contract until 2026.
Valdezate had previously represented her local team in Bilbao in more than 100 matches, but is now ready for a new challenge in Serie A Femminile.
Aged 23, Valdezate has been described as a defender in Roma’s announcement, but she is classed as a midfielder by other sources.
“I’m over the moon that a big club like Roma opted to sign me as the team seeks to achieve even more next season,” the Spaniard said on the club’s official website.
“I’m so excited to get going. I can’t wait to play in the Women’s Champions League, I hope that we can go as far as possible in the competition.”
As you may be able to infer from that declaration, Valdezate has never played in the Champions League before, so has plenty of new opportunities awaiting her with Roma.
She is the second Spanish player the club have signed this summer after adding attacking midfielder Barbara Latorre from Atletico Madrid.
