Roma were triumphant in the first ever women’s version of the Derby Della Capitale.
The Giallorosse beat Lazio 3-2 on Sunday in their first ever meeting in Serie A Femminile.
They took a two-goal lead thanks to two quickfire headers from Valeria Pirone and Vanessa Bernauer in the first half, before Lazio pulled one back before the break.
The visitors equalised via a penalty as the hour-Mark approached, but Roma restored their lead when Benedetta Glionna scored a free kick in the 73rd minute. It proved to be the match winner.
Roma thus have the bragging rights from the first Derby, and in the bigger picture are second in the table – thus in the Champions League spots – at the halfway stage of the season.
