Roma make Molina signing in Serie A return for right-back

Roma have reinforced at right-back with the signing of Nahuel Molina from Atlético de Madrid.

It marks Molina’s return to Serie A after previously playing for Udinese between 2020 and 2022.

A full Argentina international, Molina was a World Cup winner in 2022 and runner-up in 2026, playing as a starter in the former and sub in the latter.

Roma are paying Atleti a fee in the region of €13m up front for Molina, with add-ons taking it closer to €17m.

The theory is that Roma will now be able to put more money towards a left winger or right-footed attacking midfielder – Rodrigo Mora of Porto is the current objective – after identifying Molina as a cheaper alternative to their original right-back target, Feyenoord’s Givairo Read.

Molina’s shirt number for Roma will be 20.

Coincidentally, the last time Roma brought a player back to Serie A from abroad, who hadn’t played for them before, was Nikola Kalinić – also signed from Atleti.
