Roma bring Balerdi in as their latest Argentine addition

Roma have added to their Argentine contingent again with the loaning in of Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille.

Paulo Dybala and Matías Soulé were already present in Roma’s squad heading into the summer, before their compatriots Santiago Castro and Nahuel Molina also signed up.

Now, Balerdi has arrived as well, on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Roma have an option to buy Balerdi, but it could become an obligation on certain conditions, such as how many games he plays and whether Roma qualify for Europe.

The price of a permanent transfer could range from €12m to €15m.

The 27-year-old is fresh from a six-year spell with Marseille. Previously, he played for Boca Juniors and then Borussia Dortmund.

He has been capped 11 times by Argentina, who were planning to take him to the World Cup earlier this year until he had to pull out because of injury.

Balerdi will wear the number 26 shirt for Roma.
