Roma have completed the sale of Houssem Aouar to Al-Ittihad after the midfielder spent just one season in Serie A.
In a move Giallorossi Yorkshire took responsibility for going well or not, Aouar joined Roma on a free transfer in June 2023 after leaving Lyon. He scored on just his second appearance for the club, but sadly it wasn’t the dawn of anything special.
Injuries and selection decisions overshadowed Aouar’s spell with Roma, which has now ended after 25 games. The Algeria international only completed 90 minutes on three occasions.
He scored a total of four goals for the club, which was a respectable tally given they all came in Serie A and he only started nine league games, but there wasn’t enough consistency for Roma to put their faith in him for the long term.
Al-Ittihad have paid €12m for Aouar and they have also been linked with Primavera player Jan Oliveras for €3m in a double deal, which will allow Roma to reinvest.
