Antonio Mirante reiterates Roma thanks after becoming free agent

Antonio Mirante has bid farewell to Roma on the day that he officially became a free agent.

Roma announced recently that Mirante’s contract would not be renewed into a fourth season, bringing an end to his time with the club. In total, he made 35 appearances for the Giallorossi.

Soon to turn 38, he is not expected to retire and will instead be looking for a new club. As that process formally begins, he posted a farewell message to Roma via Instagram.

“I always tried to give my best for this shirt,” he wrote. “Discovering first hand the visceral love of its fans has been a privilege. Thank you Roma.”

Mirante ended his first season at Roma as first-choice ahead of Robin Olsen, and began his final year at the club as the number one above Pau Lopez in the pecking order.

It seems Mirante will be joined by both of them in heading out the exit door as Roma prepare to make room for Rui Patricio, who is still their main goalkeeper target.
