Musso in pole but Lafont joins Roma goalkeeper shortlist – report

Roma are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper next season and the latest name under consideration is reportedly Alban Lafont.

Pau Lopez has struggled for consistency during his two seasons at Roma, although he has found some better form in recent months.

It is expected that the Spanish international will be replaced by a new number one for next season and Roma have a fairly long list of goalkeeper targets.

The latest name to be added, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, is Alban Lafont, who has just joined Nantes from Fiorentina.

The France under-21 international played 34 times in Serie A in his debut season with Fiorentina but was then usurped in the pecking order by Bartlomiej Dragowski. He thus was loaned out to Nantes for two seasons.

The French club have just activated their option to buy him permanently but it has been claimed that he only agreed to the deal on the condition that they would sell him immediately.

Roma could be a contender for his signature, giving him a second chance in Serie A. However, he is not at the top of the list just yet.

Roma’s main keeper target remains Juan Musso of Udinese. There were reports when the two sides met earlier this year that a base agreement had already been found, but there is still work to be done.

Also in contention are Verona’s Marco Silvestri and Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini.
