Roma Women will play in a rehearsal of the Coppa Italia final when they host Milan on Saturday afternoon.
Having overcome Juventus to reach the cup final for the first time ever, Roma are looking forward to a showpiece event against Milan at the end of the month. By chance, their return to Serie A action also puts them up against the Rossonere.
While Roma are hoping to use the last few league games to build momentum ahead of that final, Milan are still trying to catch Juventus at the summit of the table and will be visiting Stadio Tre Fontane with lots to play for.
Juventus are in fact the only team to have beaten Milan in the league this season, so it will be a challenge. But Roma are in confident mood after their semi-final success and will be looking to prove they can compete with another top opponent.
It is likely they will field a very similar lineup to the one that played Juventus last week. Andressa Alves and Claudia Ciccotti remain unavailable, so Betty Bavagnoli will presumably stick with the 4-2-3-1 system, using Vanessa Bernauer and Manuela Giugliano at the base of midfield.
The latter will be playing against her former club, as could goalkeeper Camelia Ceasar.
Milan remain the only team Roma have ever faced in women’s football without beating them. The aim will be to show they can put that right before the all-important final at the end of the month.
But the squad is treating the remaining league games as finals as well, and will be hoping to use this game as a platform to build from.
The game kicks off at 2pm UK time.
