Spezia v Roma preview: Last chance to avoid winless month

Roma have their last chance to avoid a winless February when they visit Spezia on Sunday.

It has been an awkward month for Roma, who have drawn three matches in Serie A and lost one in the Coppa Italia. Now, they are aiming to get back on track by beating an also winless in February side, Spezia – which hasn’t always been an easy feat for Roma.

The last time Roma went a whole calendar month without a win (not counting months that bookend the season, which are therefore not full with fixtures) was January 2018. It would be an unwanted streak to end, so the target is three points.

Getting them would lift Roma back into the European places for the time being. That said, other opponents will have games in hand.

Roma must go about the task without Sergio Oliveira and Felix Afena-Gyan, who are freshly unavailable.

Fortunately on the flipside, Jose Mourinho is able to call upon Nicolo Zaniolo, Roger Ibanez and Carles Perez. Despite this, none may necessarily start.

Furthermore, Gianluca Mancini is back from suspension and Lorenzo Pellegrini is expected to start despite some fatigue.

The game kicks off at 5:05pm UK time. It will be live on BT Sport 1.
