Chris Smalling looks less and less likely to be staying at Roma permanently.
The English defender has been a standout performer in 2019-20 during his loan from Manchester United. However, he could be about to play his last game for the club.
According to Sky Sport Italia reporter Angelo Mangiante, Roma have failed in their efforts to sign Smalling on a permanent basis.
Mangiante claims that Man Utd have been holding out for €20m plus €5m in add-ons for the Englishman. Roma have only been able to reach €15m.
Therefore, Saturday’s clash with Juventus could be Smalling’s last game for Roma.
He has made 36 appearances during his loan to date, scoring three goals and becoming a fan favourite.
But despite his wish to stay, it seems likely he will be heading back to Manchester.
