Roma Women sign Nigeria defender Osinachi Ohale

Roma Women have bolstered their defensive ranks with the addition of Osinachi Ohale.

Ohale becomes the third new signing of the summer for the Giallorosse, after Paloma Lazaro and Rachele Baldi.

Unlike the duo preceding her, Ohale has never played in Italy before – but she possesses a great deal of experience.

Aged 28, the defender has represented Nigeria at three different World Cups. In total, she has 26 caps for her country – with whom she has won the African Cup of Nations four times.

Spending last season at Tacon, who have since morphed into Real Madrid, Ohale has also played club football in the American top flight, as well as in Sweden and her home country.

“I chose Roma because of so many things; so many amazing things about the club, about this city and this country that interested me,” Ohale told asroma.com.

“I felt like it would be a great thing for me, to explore and to experience new things and a new challenge.”

Ohale will provide much needed experience for Roma at the back after they said goodbye to Federica Di Criscio and Petronella Ekroth over the summer.

Pre-season preparations stepped up a gear for Roma on Wednesday, when they beat Florentia 4-0 in their first friendly. The Serie A Femminile season commences in less than a month.

Benvenuta, Osinachi.
