Carina Wenninger has become the first Roma Women signing of the summer, arriving on loan from Bayern Munich.
Roma will become just the second club Wenninger has ever represented, after her 15-year spell with Bayern. She is the German club’s all-time record appearance holder.
The Austria captain is a centre-back who will provide plenty more experience alongside the dependable Elena Linari.
Wenninger is on loan with Roma for the 2022-23 season, during which they will play in the Champions League – a competition she has plenty of experience in – for the first time.
The 31-year-old told the club website: “A big wish of mine is coming true.
“After 15 years at Bayern, I really wanted to play abroad and Italy was always my preferred destination.
“From the very first conversation, the people in charge at Roma always gave me the feeling that I was absolutely welcome and really wanted here.
“I want to play for all the domestic trophies with the club – and hopefully make some European history too. My ambition is unbroken.”
Welcome, Carina.
