Diego Perotti leaves Roma to join Fenerbahce after four-and-a-half years

Roma have confirmed the sale of Diego Perotti to Fenerbahce, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half year stay at the club.

Fenerbahce have signed Perotti to a two-year contract, with the option for a third year.

Perotti initially made a bright impression after joining Roma from Genoa in January 2016.

The winger went on to score the winning goals in both Francesco Totti’s and Daniele De Rossi’s last games for Roma.

However, injuries caught up with Perotti, limiting him to fewer appearances over the past couple of seasons.

The 32-year-old leaves Roma with 138 appearances and 32 goals – many of them from the penalty spot.

He wrote on Instagram: “They were four-and-a-half years full of good moments and also bad ones. But life and football are like this, until the end I tried to give the best of myself even if it didn’t always go as I wanted.

“I will remember the last match I played with the captain’s armband, scoring two goals. I want to thank the club, the medical and technical staff, nutriotionists, cooks and waiters and above all my teammates, who are some great players and great people.

“A hug and forever Forza Magica.”

Grazie, Diego.
