Roma Women have successfully defended their title by winning Serie A Femminile for the second season in a row.
Last season, the Giallorosse won their first ever league title at the fifth time of asking and they have matched the feat in their sixth season too, having led the way from start to finish.
Alessandro Spugna’s side got over the line without even playing on Friday, as Juventus’ loss to Inter means they cannot be caught.
Roma – who will hope to complete a first-ever domestic double when facing Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final next month – have moved out of reach with four of their own games to spare.
For context, the men’s side of the Roma setup has never experienced back-to-back league titles at senior level, so the Giallorosse have gifted their supporters some new emotions.
It has been a campaign of almost complete dominance. To date, Roma have won all their games except a defeat to Inter in January and their most recent fixture, a draw with Fiorentina.
They now have an insurmountable lead at the top of the table, which also means they will go into the UEFA Women’s Champions League in round two of the Champions Path next season.
Grazie ragazze!
