Roma Women have added Tinja-Riikka Korpela to their ranks after signing the goalkeeper from Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League.
Korpela brings plenty of experience with her to Roma at the age of 37. Across her career, she has played for the likes of Bayern Munich and Everton, as well as earning more than 100 caps at international level for Finland.
At Roma, who will be the first Italian club she has represented, Korpela will presumably replace Emma Lind, who left the club at the end of the title-winning 2022-23 season.
Indeed, it doesn’t seem like Camelia Ceasar will be dislodged as number one, but she will still have competition behind her in the shape of Korpela and Stephanie Ohrstrom.
Korpela told the club’s official website: “I’m very happy and excited about my move to AS Roma.
“This is a great and traditional club and I’m proud to be able to represent this club. I will do everything in my power to help us succeed in all possible competitions, both in Italy and in Europe.”
Korpela’s contract with Tottenham expired at the end of June after she played 11 times in the WSL for them last season.
She previously gained Champions League experience with Honka, Tyreso and Bayern Munich.
