Roma Women complete signing of Kathrine Kühl from Arsenal

Roma have completed one of the biggest signings in Italian women’s football history by buying Kathrine Kühl from Arsenal.

A defensive midfielder, Kühl has joined Roma as a replacement for Saki Kumagai, who is expected to be leaving for London City Lionesses.

Whereas Kumagai was one of the most experienced players in the squad, Kühl is just 21 years old and represents a long-term investment.

That investment is possibly bigger than any made by a Serie A Femminile team before, with Roma overcoming competition from some English clubs to land the Denmark international, though the latest reports indicate it has still been for less than €100,000 and at a similar value to what Roma will receive for Kumagai.

Kühl spent some time on loan at Everton last year and they were linked with her before January, but Roma have won the race.

Former WSL winner Kühl has signed a contract with Roma until 2027, with the option of a further year.
