Roma Women have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Rachele Baldi from Empoli.
A former Italy Under-23 international, the 25-year-old has proven herself to be one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A Femminile recently, and is now making a step up.
The goalkeeping department was strong for Roma last season – thanks to first-choice Camelia Ceasar and experienced backup Rosalia Pipitone. However, it recently diminished in number when Valentina Casaroli, the third choice shot-stopper who had never played in Serie A for the club, moved into a coaching role.
Baldi will likely compete for a starting berth – potentially being a good bit of business for the club.
Baldi is no stranger to Roma, having saved a penalty against the Giallorosse for Empoli last season.
She told asroma.com: “This club will give me every opportunity to develop and be the best I can be.
“Roma is a new chapter for me, where I can get stuck into things and really test myself.”
Benvenuta, Rachele.
Welcome to the team, Rachele Baldi! 🐺
