Roma Women sign Evelyne Viens as their first ever Canadian player

Canadian forward Evelyne Viens has signed for Roma Women on a three-year contract after leaving Swedish side Kristianstads.

Viens has become the first player from her country to join the Giallorosse, who have this week begun their pre-season training camp ahead of their defence of the Serie A Femminile title.

“I am really excited to join AS Roma,” Viens told the club’s official website.

“It is a club with high expectations and I am honoured to be part of such a great club. I cannot wait to step on the field wearing AS Roma colours and I want to help the team to win trophies.”

The 26-year-old was part of the Canada squad that won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In her club career, she has played in Canada, the USA, France and Sweden, now getting her chance to compete in Italy for the first time.

She has taken the number seven shirt recently vacated by club great, Andressa Alves.
