Roma have announced Gianpiero Piovani as the new coach of their women’s team to replace Luca Rossettini.
Roma and Rossettini went their separate ways after just one season together, which culminated in them winning Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
But amid a backdrop of Rossettini reportedly considering a return to coaching in the men’s game, Roma have replaced him with a coach with more prior experience in Serie A Women.
Piovani, a former Serie A striker for Brescia and Piacenza, was in charge of Inter’s women’s team for the past two years, achieving back-to-back second place finishes.
Piovani moved into women’s football in 2017, taking charge of Brescia for a season, before six years at Sassuolo and his spell with Inter.
He coached Manuela Giugliano and Valentina Bergamaschi at Brescia, and Rachele Baldi at Inter.
Roma have given Piovani a contract for the next two seasons.
