Roma welcome Genoa’s Venturino in exchange for Baldanzi

Roma have signed Genoa winger Lorenzo Venturino on loan with an option to buy, while offloading Tommaso Baldanzi to their former captain and coach Daniele De Rossi’s side.

Baldanzi joined Roma from Empoli two years ago, shortly after De Rossi’s appointment as head coach, but the attacking midfielder has found gametime in his preferred position increasingly difficult to obtain.

He was left out of Roma’s Europa League squad for this season and has only played 10 times in the league under Gian Piero Gasperini.

With a record of just three goals from 69 games in his Roma career, the 22-year-old has been permitted to move to Genoa on loan.

To unlock the deal, Venturino became key. The 19-year-old, who has only played twice in Serie A this season after debuting in the last campaign (fatefully, against Roma at the Olimpico), will spend the rest of the season in Rome – and potentially longer if he impresses.

Venturino, who is right footed, will wear the number 20 shirt.
