Roma have completed the signing of coveted Italian attacking midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi from fellow Serie A side Empoli.
Tiago Pinto has worked tirelessly to secure his last signing before departing as Roma’s sporting director, making this move possible by offloading Andrea Belotti to Fiorentina and Marash Kumbulla to Sassuolo.
It has already gone down well with fans, since Baldanzi is the type of prospect who could have attracted interest from rival clubs.
The 20-year-old, who bases his game on a certain Paulo Dybala, already has 41 appearances in Serie A to his name for Empoli, from which he has scored six goals.
According to reports, Roma have paid €10m, plus €5m in add-ons, to prise Baldanzi away from his first club and handed him a contract until 2029.
He will wear the number 35 shirt for his new club.
Baldanzi told Roma’s official website: “I would like to thank the Friedkin family for strongly believing in me and doing everything possible to bring me to Roma.
“I feel honoured by the interest that this club and the coach have shown in me, and I hope I will be able to repay their trust.
“Training alongside great champions will provide me with plenty of opportunities to observe and learn.
“I can’t wait until Monday to experience the atmosphere of my new stadium. For my part, I will do my best to help achieve the goals we have in front of us.”
