Roma bid farewell to Farelli with tribute video

Roma have confirmed that veteran goalkeeper Simone Farelli will not have his contract extended after just one year at the club.

Farelli joined Roma last summer to perform the role of third-choice goalkeeper after Daniel Fuzato had left on loan. The intention was never for Farelli to play, having never done so for any club since December 2016.

It is always useful to have experience in the goalkeeping department, though, so he will have been helpful in training.

After Fuzato returned in January, Farelli fell even further down the pecking order and will leave the club with no appearances to his name.

Still, Roma’s media team managed to find enough footage to post this tribute video on Twitter.

Farelli follows fellow keeper Antonio Mirante, as well as outfield players Juan Jesus and Bruno Peres, in being released.
