Roma confirm Bruno Peres exit for Trabzonspor transfer

Roma have posted a farewell message to Bruno Peres on social media as the wing-back prepares to join Trabzonspor.

Peres is out of contract at the end of next month and has agreed to join Trabzonspor in Turkey, where he currently is to attend to the final details of the move. Fellow former Roma player Gervinho is also joining the same club.

Peres arrived at Roma in 2016 after building his reputation with Torino, but the Brazilian never quite managed to replicate the levels that earned him that move.

There were some highlights along the way, though, such as his infamous goalline clearance against Shakhtar Donetsk on Roma’s route to the 2017-18 Champions League semi-finals.

After returning from 18 months away on loan in Brazil (with two different clubs) in January 2020, Peres knuckled down and put himself to use for the team. His quality was still sometimes lacking, but he played on either side of defence without any complaints. A reward came when he scored a brace in a big win against SPAL in July of that year.

In total, he made 132 appearances for Roma, scoring six goals and providing 12 assists. Roma are the only club he has made more than 100 appearances for.

Sadly, they weren’t all of the quality expected, but at least Peres proved his commitment.

Here’s how Roma bid him farewell.

Grazie, Bruno.
