Rick Karsdorp rewarded for resurgence with new Roma contract

Rick Karsdorp has signed a new contract with Roma, keeping him at the club until 2025.

The Dutch full-back has been an integral part of Paulo Fonseca’s side this season, finally fulfilling his potential.

Karsdorp was plagued with injuries after joining the club in 2017 and spent the 2019-20 season back on loan at Feyenoord. But since returning to Roma, he has hit his stride.

Karsdorp has nailed down his place as Roma’s starting right wing-back this season, providing more assists so far than any other defender in Serie A. He also scored his first ever goal for the club in January.

With his previous contract expiring in 2022, Roma have acted to secure his services for the longer-term future.

Karsdorp told asroma.com: “I’m really happy to sign this new contract.

“I want to thank every department of the club that has helped me on this journey – having the support of the people working here has been important in turning things around and opening a new chapter for me.

“I hope to pay back that support: let’s go and win!”
