Alessandro Florenzi has completed his move from Roma to Valencia on a six-month loan.
The Spanish club do not have an option to buy Florenzi as part of the deal.
Florenzi came through the academy ranks at Roma to become a first team regular, and was appointed captain at the start of this season following the departure of Daniele De Rossi.
However, his performance levels have always been a divisive subject, and Paulo Fonseca has not shown him his full confidence this season.
With Euro 2020 looming, Florenzi has moved on in search of regular gametime.
To date, Florenzi has made 279 appearances for Roma, scoring 28 goals. He is in the club’s top 20 appearance makers of all-time.
A member of the squad since 2012, when he returned from a loan at Crotone, Florenzi will no longer be the longest-serving player in the team.
Edin Dzeko is set to inherit the captaincy from Florenzi – months after being offered it by the departing defender.
