Ben White has emerged as a transfer option for Roma due to the appointment of Jose Mourinho, according to reports.
It is not every day that Brighton players are linked with big-money moves to the Italian capital. However, White has outlined his potential this season, building on a productive loan spell in Yorkshire with Leeds last term.
Now, he is on the radar of a number of top clubs. Tottenham were among them when Mourinho was their head coach and now White has subsequently been linked with Roma as well.
The Sun were the first to make that suggestion, which has since been backed up by Gazzetta Dello Sport – who named him as a top target.
Roma may need more options in defence after struggling somewhat in that department this season. White would be costly, though, as Brighton are eager to ramp up his price tag due to his potential and the widespread interest.
Gazzetta estimate the asking price to be at least €30m but The Sun have reported an even higher price which may approach record territory for Roma.
Hence, it seems a deal for White would be difficult – but with Mourinho very keen on the 23-year-old, the story might not be over yet.
