A number of milestones were recorded as Roma Women reached the halfway stage of the first part of the Serie A Femminile season on Sunday, beating Fiorentina 2-1.
Giada Greggi put Roma ahead with a left-footed strike from outside the box, before Miriam Longo equalised for Fiorentina five minutes later – the first time any opponent has levelled things up against the Giallorosse since Milan on the opening day.
Eventually, Benedetta Glionna got the winner for Roma to maintain their perfect start to the Serie A season.
Here is an overview of five facts or milestones following the game.
100% record intact at halfway stage
Nine teams played, nine teams beaten. Roma have now faced all of their opponents in the league this season and none of them have taken any points off Alessandro Spugna’s side.
Fiorentina were third in the table prior to kick off, which made this one of Roma’s tougher challenges domestically so far.
And even though, as stated, Roma were pegged back for the first time in over two months, the Giallorosse still emerged victorious thanks to Glionna’s winner.
It means they are three points clear of Juventus at the top of the table after nine games and ahead of a two-week break before the next half of the regular season.
Greggi gets 10th goal
After also scoring against Fiorentina last season in the second phase of the season, Greggi got her name on the scoresheet again in stylish fashion.
Her arching effort was her 10th goal for the club, making her the 13th different player to reach double figures for Roma.
Glionna achieves 50 league apps
Roma’s other goalscorer also reached a landmark, but in her case it was for the number of appearances she has made.
Glionna was appearing in Serie A for the 50th time as a Roma player after earning just her second league start of the season.
She remains the joint-most used player of the Spugna era for Roma on 80 appearances in all competitions, tied with Manuela Giugliano.
Minami makes it to 50 starts
Another half-century was achieved by defender Moeka Minami, who started her 50th game in all competitions for Roma.
That has included all but one of Roma’s league games this season, although she did come on as a substitute in the other.
As it turns out, when Roma were weighing up their replacements for the retiring Carina Wenninger over the summer, they already had their answer in Minami.
Serturini sets 150 appearance landmark
Finally, Roma’s all-time leading appearance maker reached another milestone when coming on as a substitute.
Starts have been harder for Annamaria Serturini to come by this season, especially due to the form of new signing Evelyne Viens, but she entered the pitch for her 150th Roma appearance against Fiorentina.
Serturini is 20 appearances ahead of her next challenger to be Roma’s most-used player of all time, captain Elisa Bartoli, and has also specifically played more for the club in the league than anyone else with 108 Serie A apps (outnumbering Bartoli’s 93).
Serturini’s 150 appearances have been divided equally between both of Roma’s coaches so far, since she played 75 times for Betty Bavagnoli and now 75 for Spugna.
