The nine times a Roma player has scored in back-to-back Italy matches

After Gianluca Mancini scored for the second Italy game in a row, let’s take a look at which other Roma players have done the same.

In reverse chronological order, here are the players to have scored in back-to-back Italy games (strictly without any other international fixtures taking place in between the two caps in question) while on Roma’s books at club level.

Gianluca Mancini (October/November 2025)

Mancini went more than 12 months without an Italy cap before being restored into the frame for the September 2025 international break, during which he made his 15th cap. At that stage, he was still to get off the mark with a first international goal, but that breakthrough followed in the October break when he scored in stoppage time of a 3-0 win over Israel.

Then, in Italy’s first game of the November break, Mancini scored late in a 2-0 win over Moldova to become the first Roma defender to score in consecutive Italy fixtures.

Lorenzo Pellegrini (June 2022)

In the summer after becoming the first Roma captain to lift a UEFA trophy thanks to success in the Europa Conference League, Pellegrini was in goalscoring form for Italy in their UEFA Nations League group.

Wearing the number 10 shirt, the midfielder scored against Germany and Hungary over the space of a few days, before his goalscoring run ended against England in a 0-0 draw.

Daniele De Rossi (October 2012)

Roma’s greatest contributor to the Italian national team in terms of appearances and goals while on the club’s books was De Rossi. Of his 21 goals for his country, the two that came in consecutive games occurred in October 2012.

De Rossi scored headers against Armenia and Denmark, also providing an assist against the former.

Antonio Cassano (June 2004)

Cassano made his Italy debut whilst a Roma player in November 2003 and marked the occasion with a goal. By the end of the season, in which he had scored 18 goals for Roma, he was named in the Azzurri’s squad for Euro 2004.

Italy failed to get out of the group stage, although Cassano scored in their last two games against Sweden and Bulgaria.

Giuseppe Giannini (June/September 1991)

Although he remained with Roma until 1996, Giannini’s international career with Italy ended in 1991. However, he scored on his third-to-last and penultimate caps for his country, taking his tally of international goals from four to six.

His last goals for his country came in friendlies against the Soviet Union in June 1991 and Bulgaria that September.

Francisco Lojacono (June/October 1961)

Lojacono was born in Argentina but represented Italy during his time in the country playing for Fiorentina and Roma.

He had a good record of five goals in eight games for Italy, scoring in both of his final two caps. The first was against his country of birth, Argentina, in June 1961, and four months later he scored in a World Cup play-off against Israel.

Egisto Pandolfini (December 1953/January 1954/April 1954)

The only Roma player to score in three consecutive Italy fixtures, Pandolfini enjoyed his purple patch during the 1953-54 season, which was also his most prolific at club level in the capital.

Having previously scored on his first two Italy caps when he was still a Fiorentina player, Pandolfini scored in three in a row with goals against Czechoslovakia in December 1953, Egypt in January 1954 and France in April 1954. His last international goal came at that summer’s World Cup with the captain’s armband on, although his scoring streak had ended in the first group game.

Raffaele Costantino (January/February 1933)

Costantino had the distinction of scoring in consecutive Italy fixtures on two separate occasions whilst a Roma player.

In the winter months of 1933, he scored against Germany and Belgium with what would be his last international goals, as he didn’t play for Italy again beyond that summer.

Raffaele Costantino (April/May 1932)

Costantino arrived at Roma in 1930 on a wave of positivity after scoring three goals over his last two Italy games as a Bari player.

His first time scoring in successive Italy games after his Roma move was in the spring of 1932, with goals against France and Hungary.
