Roma Women will be battling with a depleted squad when they return to action against Sampdoria on Sunday.
There has been a wave of Covid-19 cases among Roma players recently, meaning Alessandro Spugna will have to get creative with his lineup. Full-backs Elisa Bartoli and Angelica Soffia, midfielder Giada Greggi and forwards Valeria Pirone, Alice Corelli and Benedetta Glionna will all be unavailable.
It is perhaps fortunate that the next opponent is Sampdoria and not a stronger rival, but the first ever meeting between the two sides will be a big challenge. Spugna was keen to point out in pre-match interviews that Serie A newcomers Samp have picked up better results at their home ground (where this game is taking place) and so it will be a tough trip.
It is a difficult one to predict – even working out a starting XI would require some outside-the-box thinking – so Roma will just have to do the best they can as they aim to extend a four-game winning run across all competitions from before the break.
The game kicks off at 11:30am UK time.
