Lorenzo Pellegrini has recovered from injury in time to make the squad as Roma return from the international break on Sunday with a home tie against Brescia.
The Giallorossi have had to navigate the past month with an injury crisis, but with the international break having given his squad time to rest up, Paulo Fonseca can count on Pellegrini to come back into the matchday squad.
The Italian midfielder, who this week revealed that he would look to remove his โฌ30m release clause when discussing a new contract, has been absent with a metatarsal injury since the end of September. After returning to training, though, he has made a comeback ahead of schedule – but any thoughts of how to get him in the same team as Javier Pastore will have to be put on the backburner for now, after the in-form Argentine was ruled out with a hip injury.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan also misses out, with Fonseca suggesting he is one game away from fitness, while Antonio Mirante is left out, meaning there is a place in the squad for young goalkeeper Matteo Cardinali. Leonardo Spinazzola, who has just resumed training after yet another minor setback, completes the list of absentees.

Sunday’s opponents Brescia are rooted to the bottom of the table, having not won on their travels in more than two months. Former Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino recently decided to change things up in the managerial hotseat, with former Italy defender Fabio Grosso taking charge at the beginning of the month. However, his first game saw his side lose 4-0 to Torino after being reduced to 10 men.
Roma will be hoping to assert their dominance again, with Brescia only ever having won once against the Giallorossi at Stadio Olimpico. And with Edin Dzeko hungry to get back among the goals, his positive scoring record against newly-promoted sides (16 goals in 15 games) should give his side increased confidence for what should be his 150th Serie A appearance.
The game kicks off at 2pm UK time and will be shown live on Premier Sports 1.
