Paulo Dybala agrees deal to join AS Roma on free transfer after Juventus exit

Well, that is quite the news to wake up to – Paulo Dybala has agreed to join AS Roma on a free transfer after he left Juventus last month.

Roma have been working on a deal to sign Dybala for a number of weeks, although he has seemed like a dream target for some of that time.

There was originally competition from Inter Milan, before it became a two-horse race between Roma and Napoli.

Roma have had the edge, though, and various meetings have been held in an attempt to convince him.

The striker has spoken over the phone with Jose Mourinho and his representatives have been in talks with Tiago Pinto too.

It was revealed yesterday that Dybala had given his yes to the Roma project, but was awaiting an agreement on salary. Now, it must have arrived.

Gianluca Di Marzio has tweeted that Dybala is now a Roma player after revealing overnight he had been offered a three-year contract in the capital. Now, he is going to sign it.

Filippo Biafora reports that Roma are arranging his medical and the Argentina international is already on the plane – one of the Friedkins’ – to join up with their pre-season camp in Portugal.

It’s actually happening.
