Roma are aiming to make it three wins in a row for the first time since September, when Jose Mourinho’s perfect start came to an end, as they take on Torino on Sunday.
After a tough run up to the November international break, Roma have since picked up wins against Genoa and Zorya Luhansk, without conceding a goal in either game. Now, they are seeking a third consecutive win, which they haven’t managed since Mourinho’s six-game winning streak at the beginning of his tenure.
The manager faces a few dilemmas in his preparation for this game though, mainly in midfield. Jordan Veretout is suspended, while Bryan Cristante and Gonzalo Villar are still positive for Covid-19. Therefore, Mourinho may have to use centre-back Gianluca Mancini in defensive midfield, just like Paulo Fonseca did for a few games in 2019, as an emergency measure.
There is better news in defence, though, with left-back Matias Vina available again and all the centre-backs there to choose from. It will allow Mourinho to be more flexible with whether he wants to use a back three or a back four.
He understandably did not want to give away his secrets at his pre-match press conference, though, so team news will have to wait until an hour before kick-off.
Both fixtures between Roma and Torino last season finished as 3-1 wins for whoever the home side was. The Giallorossi will be hoping to use their home advantage to pick up three points again.
The game kicks off at 5pm UK time and will be live on BT Sport 2.
