Claudia Ciccotti has earned a contract extension with Roma Women until 2023.
Part of the original Roma Women squad from 2018, Ciccotti has taken on a role of greater importance this season.
After a promising debut campaign, injuries limited her appearances the following year. But this season, the tables have turned and she has taken advantage in the absence of Giada Greggi and Andrine Hegerberg.
Ciccotti has made 14 appearances so far this season, the most recent seeing her wear the captain’s armband in a 4-3 win over Inter. She even got on the scoresheet with a well-taken strike from outside the box, even if it was overshadowed by a certain other goal.
In total, the Rome-born midfielder has played 42 times for the club and has five goals to her name. She is currently seventh on the club’s all-time chart of leading appearance makers, although will soon rise up that ranking as she is only one behind the still-sidelined Greggi.
Ciccotti, 27, has now committed the rest of the prime of her career to Roma – following in the footsteps of teammate and fellow Romanista Elisa Bartoli, who signed a similar deal last week.
“Three years ago I was given the chance to realise a dream that I had ever since I was a child: play for Roma,” Ciccotti told asroma.com.
“I am delighted to be able to continue to live that dream, to still be given the possibility and privilege to fight for the club I love so much.”
