4th May marks the birthday of a recent Roma icon in Radja Nainggolan.
The Belgian midfielder was one of the club’s most popular players of the past decade, standing out for his work rate, passion and ability to score from long-distance.
He made more than 200 appearances for Roma, the club where he really developed his eye for goal, scoring a career best 14 goals in all competitions in the 2016-17 season. Roma remain the only club for whom Nainggolan has scored more than once in a single match – something he did on three occasions for the Lupi.
Nainggolan left Roma in 2018, a decision which his coach at the time, Eusebio Di Francesco, would come to regret. However, thanks to the commitment he showed during his four-and-a-half-year stay, Nainggolan kept a special place in the hearts of fans – just as he remains fond of Rome.
