Quiz: How well can you remember the career of former Roma captain Agostino Di Bartolomei?

On 8th April, 1955, a child was born who would go on to become one of the greatest players in Roma history.

Agostino Di Bartolomei represented his hometown club with pride for more than a decade, with the pinnacle coming when he lifted the Serie A trophy as captain in 1983.

The central midfielder, who could also play as a sweeper, went on to lead his side to the final of the 1984 European Cup, but despite scoring his own penalty, Roma could not win the shootout against Liverpool.

Unfortunately, 10 years to the day later, Di Bartolomei took his own life at the age of just 39 after a battle with depression, four years after he had retired from football.

His legacy lives on, though, and he is still remembered as one of Roma’s most popular players of all-time.
