Roma confirm Daniele De Rossi as permanent head coach

Daniele De Rossi will remain Roma’s head coach beyond this season after an exciting announcement by the Friedkin family.

De Rossi replaced Jose Mourinho in January on a contract until the end of the season and the former club captain has impressed in the dugout.

Highlights of De Rossi’s spell so far have included progress past Feyenoord and Brighton in the Europa League, and a recent derby win over Lazio.

Now, on the day of the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Milan, the Friedkins have announced that De Rossi will continue to guide Roma in the future, although they have not yet confirmed the length of his permanent contract and have promised more details in the coming days.

“After meeting yesterday afternoon with Daniele De Rossi, we are delighted to announce he will continue as Head Coach of AS Roma after this season and for the foreseeable future,” Dan and Ryan Friedkin wrote.

“In his short tenure as Head Coach, the positive impact that his leadership has brought to the entire club has told its own story.

“Daniele leads with respect and courage, while his strength and deep-rooted belief in the club are truly aligned with Roma’s values, city and unparalled fans.

“We will continue to work together as hard as we possibly can to deliver a future that AS Roma’s fans deserve.

“We couldn’t be happier to build a long-term project with Daniele.

The 40-year-old has won 11 of his 16 matches in charge of Roma so far and has impressed for his personal qualities as well as showing some tactical development.
