Celik a done deal amid Darboe suggestions

Thursday 30th June

Roma have made progress on another key transfer pursuit, with various sources now indicating a deal for Zeki Celik is practically done.

Lille – who have just appointed a certain Paulo Fonseca as their head coach – have signed a replacement for the right-back, who could now be Roma bound.

Sky Sport and Il Tempo are among the sources indicating it is just about a done deal between the two clubs, for a fee in the region of €7m.

Interestingly, it has also been claimed that Ebrima Darboe could move in the opposite direction to reunite with Fonseca in France.

Svilar to sign tomorrow

Thursday 30th June

It has long been known that Roma will be taking Mile Svilar on a free transfer this summer. Now, his arrival has been pencilled in.

As revealed by Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, the goalkeeper will land at Fiumicino airport at 9:30am Italian time (8:30am UK time) tomorrow morning.

Villar says yes to Sampdoria

Wednesday 29th June

Returning to Roma after a loan back in Spain with Getafe, Gonzalo Villar needs a new solution.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the midfielder has received a proposal from Serie A side Sampdoria, which he is willing to accept.

It would only be a loan deal, though, so Roma are first searching for any permanent solutions. If they cannot find something suitable, they could send the Spaniard to Sampdoria on their preferred terms.

El Shaarawy eager to stay

Wednesday 29th June

Entering the final year of his contract with Roma, there are some doubts about the future of Stephan El Shaarawy.

He could have a future elsewhere in Serie A, but according to Corriere Dello Sport, is only thinking of Roma at present.

Likely to be a squad man if he stays, he could play as a wing-back or further forward.

Guedes getting too expensive

Tuesday 28th June

Throughout Roma’s pursuit of Goncalo Guedes, there has been the idea that they could lower Valencia’s asking price by including counterparts in the deal.

But such a strategy may not pay off. Indeed, journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo claims Valencia want pure cash for the winger. Their asking price – not mentioned in Moretto’s tweet, but believed to be in the region of €40m – could be too high for Roma.

Porto could keep Oliveira

Tuesday 28th June

Will he, won’t he? Roma are deciding whether or not – and how – to keep Sergio Oliveira after his loan spell from Porto.

Recently, it was claimed they could ask for him on another loan deal. However, Teleradiostereo now point to the chances of Porto reintegrating the midfielder themselves.

After selling Fabio Vieira to Arsenal and with Vitinha a target for PSG, Porto could welcome Oliveira back to their own squad and block his return to Roma.

Roma linked with Lukic

Tuesday 28th June

A new name has cropped up in Roma’s search for a new midfielder. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, they are interested in Sasa Lukic of Torino.

However, as things stand, their fellow Serie A side do not want to sell.

Lenglet links questioned

Tuesday 28th June

There have been a few rumours in recent days about interest in Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet. As a left-footed centre-back, he would be a unique profile in the squad.

Corriere Dello Sport and Gazzetta Dello Sport have both spoken of Roma’s interest. Yesterday, Teleradiostereo turned down the rumours, but they have not stopped into the morning.

The Frenchman may be one to keep an eye on after all.

Aouar advances on midfield shortlist

Monday 27th June

Roma continue to be linked with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. According to Il Romanista and beIN Sports, they are hopeful of taking him for a fee around €17m.

There has even been the idea of sending Jordan Veretout back to France as a makeweight.

AS claim there is competition from Monchi’s Sevilla, but Roma could take further steps towards adding Aouar.

Zaniolo to Juventus links grow

Monday 27th June

There are plenty of reports about Nicolo Zaniolo at present, so much so that it is hard to know what to believe.

Some outlets are claiming Roma are ready to sell the man who scored the winning goal in the Europa Conference League final. Several suggest Juventus could be the destination.

With that in mind, Tuttosport report there will be a meeting between Roma and Juventus counterparts Tiago Pinto and Federico Cherubini in the coming days.

A few Juventus players are being suggested as makeweights; Tuttosport say Arthur and Weston McKennie, La Repubblica propose Moise Kean, while Goal back up the Arthur idea. Roma remain doubtful about some of the suggestions but are said to rate the latter.

There will be plenty of ideas about the potential operations, though.

Serie A competition for Solbakken

Monday 27th June

One of Roma’s main targets this year is Bodo/Glimt attacker Ola Solbakken. However, there have been difficulties negotiating with the side they eventually knocked out of the Europa Conference League.

Now, Il Mattino claim Napoli have joined the race for the Norwegian. What’s more, Bodo/Glimt may prefer to sell to Luciano Spalletti’s side than Roma.

Calafiori in Cremonese twist

Monday 27th June

Riccardo Calafiori was expected to join Salernitana from Roma recently. However, now, the left-back looks to be close to Cremonese instead.

Sky Sport have reported that the newly promoted side are ready to sign the academy graduate. Furthermore, Tuttomercatoweb are predicting a €3m operation.
