Marash Kumbulla completes loan move from Roma to Sassuolo

Roma have sent Marash Kumbulla out on loan to fellow Serie A side Sassuolo for the rest of the season.

Kumbulla is just returning from an ACL injury that has prevented him from making any appearances this season.

A range of clubs showed an interest in the defender, but it is Sassuolo who have won the race to take him on loan, without an option to buy.

The 23-year-old, who has made 68 appearances for Roma since signing from Hellas Verona in September 2020, remains under contract in the capital until the end of next season.

He is the second player to move from Roma to Sassuolo on loan this season, although the first – Matias Vina – recently saw his spell cancelled so he could be sold to Flamengo.

For Kumbulla, the plan will be to get some minutes back in his legs and then assess the next course of action.
