Roma’s Coppa Italia journey continues with a tricky test against Serie A champions Inter on Tuesday.
After seeing off Lecce in the last round, the calibre of opponent increases significantly for Roma in the quarter-finals. Jose Mourinho is returning to his old stomping ground to take on league leaders Inter Milan, who overcame Empoli after extra time in the cup’s Round of 16.

The most recent Serie A meeting between these two sides ended as a convincing 3-0 win for Inter in December. It was one of Roma’s worst performances of the season, so they can only hope for better fortunes in the cup.
But Roma have not progressed past the quarter-final stage since the 2016-17 season. If Mourinho even wants to think about his first trophy with the club – having won this competition last time he attempted with Inter – there are still several hurdles to overcome.
Tuesday’s could be the trickiest, so Roma will have to do their best to make sure it isn’t the end of the road.
Inter Milan v Roma team news
In terms of team news, Lorenzo Pellegrini has been back in group training, although it is not yet clear if he is ready to start. Matias Vina, meanwhile, should be ready to slot back in at left-back. Reports suggest Jordan Veretout could also reclaim a starting berth in midfield.

For Inter, semi-finalists in the last two seasons running, this game presents them with the chance to bounce back from the disappointment of losing their derby with Milan at the weekend. But Roma are also aiming to get back on track after a stalemate with Genoa.
The cup could mean more to Roma than an Inter side defending their league title. But only Tuesday will tell who will prove it is a priority – or not – on the pitch.
Kick-off at San Siro is at 8pm UK time. The game will be live on Premier Sports 2.
