Roma Women have finally confirmed the signing of Thaisa Moreno.
The Brazilian international, who has more than 80 caps for her country, has agreed terms until the end of the season. The transfer has finally gone through after a lengthy delay due to quarantine.
After spending the past two seasons with Real Madrid, the 32-year-old now returns to Serie A, where she used to play for Milan.
Her arrival is a statement of intent from Roma, who are looking to bridge the gap with sides of that stature.
Thaisa will likely be a regular starter in Alessandro Spugna’s midfield, where she can combine with compatriot Andressa Alves, who is preparing for her third season with the club.
Thaisa, who will wear the number 17, told the club website: “I chose Roma because I think it is a club with a great project in place.
“Last season the club won the Coppa Italia, just a few years into its development cycle – and I am here to help the side improve even more.”
Head of Women’s Football, Betty Bavagnoli, added: “Thaisa does not need any introduction, her career speaks for itself.
“We have been following her with interest for a long period now, and we are delighted that she has decided to join the club.
“We know what she brings to the table: experience, character and she will set a great example for the others, especially in terms of her mentality.”
Benvenuta, Thaisa.
